Access to Education

SRDE’s intervention in the education is multi-fold on various levels. We target schools and communities directly and pursue policy and lobbying in the district and state level institutions. We have been primarily in the districts of Pulwama, Srinagar, Budgam, Baramulla and Bandipora since 2015.

Digital Literacy

The vision is that the children, who do not get such practical knowledge about computers in school, can develop this vocational skill and leas a better professional and sustainable life. SRDE also aims to empower women through this initiative by making them independent in terms of micro financing. This skill in turn is connected to our Rural Tourism initiative, wherein the locals after a substantial training can carry on the tourism process on their own digitally.

Revival of traditional Crafts and livelihood generation

The initiative empowers local women to learn and pick up on local art and craft forms.  It helps women in the communities to generate livelihood options from their home. We have trained 100s of women since 2015 in various art and crafts forms and it has helped them improve their quality of life. The trainings have been mainly held in the Shopian, Pulwama, Budgam and Kupwara districts.
